2 June 2015 - Afghanistan must shield and develop its real human rights advances, said a senior UNAMA official in recent interview, pledging the UN’s commitment to remaining centre stage with Afghans to safeguard the gains and prevent any rollback. UNAMA’s Human Rights Director, Georgette Gagnon who just completed her service over five years expressed hope that human rights achievements will be advanced in the years ahead.

28 May 2015 - Afghan girls have the right to education and to contribute to the development of their country, say community leaders, government officials, civil society activists and women role models. However, harmful traditions, cultural constraint, insecurity and poverty are still serious barriers that keep too many girls in Afghanistan from receiving an education.
