On 28 February 2023 the Special Representative of the Secretary-General (SRSG) and Head of UNMIK, Ms. Caroline Ziadeh, visited Viti/Vitina municipality and met Mayor Mr. Sokol Haliti and other municipal officials.

During her discussion with Mayor Haliti, SRSG Ziadeh praised the municipal leadership for their efforts in building trust among communities and for a creating an environment conducive to religious tolerance. Reassuring Mayor Haliti of UNMIK’s continuous support, SRSG Ziadeh also commended the fact that some of the municipal departments were led by women.

On his part, the Mayor Haliti said that the municipality will continue to implement projects that foster coexistence and trust building among communities, including inter-municipal cooperation with the neighbouring Kosovo Serb majority municipality of Klokot/Kllokot.
