Peter N. Due

Since July 2013, Peter Due serves as the Representative of the Secretary-General and Head of the United Nations Office in Belgrade (UNOB).   

From September 2009 to July 2013, he was the Special Assistant to the Under-Secretary-General for Peacekeeping Operations and Head of the Front Office of the Department of Peacekeeping Operations (DPKO) at the UN Secretariat in New York. He previously served DPKO in New York in various other capacities, including as Team Leader for West Africa and as Team Leader for Europe and Latin America.  Peter Due worked in the field as a Political Affairs Officer in Kosovo with UNMIK (1999-2000) and in Sierra Leone with UNAMSIL and as a Humanitarian Affairs Officer in Liberia with UNOMIL.  Earlier in his international career, he also worked with the Inter-Governmental Consultations on Asylum, Refugee and Migration Policies and with the Commission on Global Governance, both in Geneva.
 
In his national diplomatic service, Peter Due served as a Head of Section with the Danish Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Copenhagen and at the Danish Embassy in Eritrea.
 
Peter Due holds degrees in Philosophy, Politics and Economics as well as International Relations from the Universities of Oxford, Geneva and Copenhagen. He speaks Danish, English, French and German. He is married with one son.
