No matter who you are – YOU HAVE RIGHTS!
All people in Kosovo, regardless of ethnicity, gender, colour or creed, have inviolable human rights. This essential message, which UNMIK has been continuously striving to spread, is especially important today, on International Human Rights Day.
“As the world joins together to celebrate human rights, I encourage all stakeholders in Kosovo to keep advancing the culture of respect for human rights, and assure them of UNMIK’s availability and full support in this effort ,” Special Representative of the Secretary-General and Head of UNMIK Zahir Tanin pledged.
While underlining the robust human rights framework that Kosovo has developed over the past few years, SRSG Tanin called for the full implementation of these human rights standards. He also praised the Kosovo Ombudsperson’s Institution for its tireless efforts to address human rights violations and complaints, and called on all duty bearers to renew their commitment and accountability as they promote and protect the human rights of all people in Kosovo.
Today we call on YOU to stand up for your own rights and the rights of others.
