On 23 January, the Special Representative of the Secretary-General (SRSG) and Head of UNMIK, Mr. Zahir Tanin, visited Ferizaj/ Uroševac Municipality and met with Mayor Agim Aliu and associates from his municipal departments. The SRSG was accompanied by the Deputy SRSG, Mr. Christopher Coleman, and the Head of the Office for Community Support, Mr. Leonid Markaryan.

The Mayor touched upon the inter-ethnic and inter-religious relations in the municipality, highlighting the integration of minority communities into the economic life and institutions of the municipality. He expressed his appreciation for UNMIK’s focus on trust-building among communities and support to municipalities around Kosovo.

The SRSG commended the efforts undertaken under the Mayor’s leadership and noted UNMIK’s readiness to partner with municipality initiatives within the framework of trust-and confidence-building.
