USG Lacroix concludes his visit to Pristina and Belgrade

The Under-Secretary-General for Peace Operations, Jean-Pierre Lacroix, has now concluded his visit to Pristina and Belgrade, where he met with senior officials, representatives of the diplomatic community, international organizations, and civil society on key priorities, including the importance of continued engagement and cooperation in promoting lasting peace, stability, and security in the Western Balkans, support for the EU-facilitated Belgrade-Pristina Dialogue and UNMIK’s ongoing efforts to promote trust-building.

In Pristina, he held constructive discussions with senior officials including Acting Prime Minister Albin Kurti, Acting First Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Foreign Affairs and Diaspora Glauk Konjufca, as well as representatives from the diplomatic community and civil society.

USG Lacroix also delivered remarks at the annual Global Open Day on Women, Peace and Security and visited Barabar centre, a multiethnic space helping build social cohesion and inter community trust.

On June 23, the Under-Secretary-General met with Kosovo Serb interlocutors, including representatives of the Serbian Orthodox Church, health and education sectors, as well as mayors, discussing governance issues, interactions between local and central institutions, and their implications for human rights and well-being of local communities.

In Belgrade, USG Lacroix held constructive meetings today with Serbian Prime Minister Đuro Macut, Minister of Defence Bratislav Gašić and State Secretary at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs Nevena Jovanović. He thanked Serbia for its longstanding support and contributions to UN peacekeeping operations worldwide, including through the deployment of Serbian personnel. He also met with members of the diplomatic community there to discuss current regional developments, shared challenges, and opportunities to strengthen peace, security and stability.
