PRISTINA—The Interim Administrative Council (IAC) today endorsed the draft regulation on the Establishment of the Administrative Department of Public Utilities.
The Administrative Department of Utilities would handle the overall management oversight and regulation of matters relating to public utilities in Kosovo that shall include natural gas supply, transmission and use for public utilities purposes, electric light, heat, power, water supply, waste and solid waste collection and treatment, as may be provided by public, private, and other enterprises and institutions providing such services.
The IAC also discussed the draft of regulation on the import, sale and distribution of pharmaceutical products, including narcotic drugs and psychotropic substances. The members of the IAC also discussed progress of the draft regulation amending UNMIK Regulation No. 1999/27, as amended, on the Approval of the Kosovo Consolidated Budget authorising expenditures for the period 1 January to 31 December 2000.
The members of the IAC were also briefed by the Deputy- Special Representative of the Secretary-General, Ambassador Daan Everts, on the technical aspects of the local elections planned for October, in particular the design of the ballot paper and the financing of the electoral campaign.
With the IAC approval, the regulation on the establishment of the Department of Public Utilities will be signed by SRSG and will enter into law.
