PRISTINA 17 February 2011 - UNMIK responds to the release of an article by France 24 (French and English Services 16 February 2011), titled “UN knew about Kosovo organ trafficking, report says ” and “Trafic d'organes au Kosovo : quelle est l'implication réelle de l'ONU dans l'enquête ? ».
According to France 24 “The 2003 document has never been presented to the European Union’s police and justice mission in Kosovo (EULEX)”
UNMIK would like to stress the following: As previously stated, when UNMIK first heard about these allegations, the mission referred the matter to the ICTY Office of the Prosecutor. In late 2008 and early 2009, UNMIK transferred all pertinent files to the incoming EULEX.
The United Nations Mission in Kosovo remains ready to provide its full support to any further eventual investigations into the allegations that may be conducted in the future.
