PRISTINA – SRSG Michael Steiner visited President Rugova today where they discussed Saturday’s murders of Tahir Zemaj, his son and nephew and the program for this coming year.
“I first want to extend my condolences to the families of those killed,” said SRSG Michael Steiner.
“It is clear that the people of Kosovo are sick and tired of this kind of violence,” continued the SRSG. “Not only do these gangsters ruin Kosovo’s reputation, they work against Kosovo.”
“However, I have been heartened to hear that many witnesses have so far come forward. The police have strong leads and they are collecting evidence. Progress has been made on identifying those involved.”
“But it is also crucial that people respect the police and courts and let them do their work. This also means not prejudging the results of any investigation or trial.”
