PRISTINA - DPI Director Mr. Simon Haselock has been completely misquoted by Java magazine on the issue of President Ibrahim Rugova’s photograph being distributed to different ministries in the Provisional government.
UNMIK has no position on President Rugova’s picture being put up in the ministries. He is the senior most elected representative of the Provisional Government.
What Mr. Haselock told ‘Java’ was “that what President Rugova uses behind his picture is not necessarily a matter for UNMIK. The flag in the picture does not purport to be an official symbol. The question of official flags and symbols is a separate issue.”
He did not say that the picture is not acceptable to the international administration in Kosovo. He also did not say that the picture is not allowed to be used in public institutions.
