Following today's meeting of the Interim Administrative Council, SRSG Bernard Kouchner issued the following statement regarding yesterday's murder of Prizren community leader Ekrem Rexha.
"The cold-blooded murder of Ekrem Rexha is a tragedy for Prizren and for all of Kosovo.
"Mr. Rexha, born in 1961, was an unusually talented public figure just beginning to realize his potential.
"He was an important ally for all those working for peace, tolerance and reconstruction in Kosovo. As the Director of Department of Environment and Safety and a member of the Prizren Administrative Board, he was extremely active and an endless source of constructive ideas.
"We will miss him greatly.
"UNMIK Police are doing their utmost to investigate this crime and to identify and arrest the perpetrators.
"On behalf of UNMIK, I wish to extend our most heart-felt condolences to his wife and daughter and the rest of his family."
