PRISTINA - SRSG Harri Holkeri today met with EU High Representative for the Common Foreign and Security Policy Javier Solana, to discuss the developments and the progress made since the riots of March 2004.
The SRSG and the High Representative strongly condemned Saturday’s drive-by killing of a Serbian teenager in Gracanica and extended their condolences to the family. They unanimously declared that “progress on the path to becoming a member of the European family cannot be made with violence”.
Mr. Holkeri thanked Mr. Solana for his contribution and engagement in Kosovo’s affairs. “As you know, I will be leaving my post as head of UNMIK shortly,” Mr. Holkeri said, “But I am encouraged that Kosovo’s friends remain committed to helping build a better future for all of its people.”
Javier Solana then took the opportunity to congratulate Harri Holkeri for his dedication and commitment as Special Representative of the Secretary General and wished him well for his future.
