UNMIK/PR/1189
PRISTINA - The Office on Missing Persons and Forensics (OMPF), in cooperation with the UNMIK CIVPOL Missing Persons Unit (MPU) will hold a Clothing Exhibition to assist families in the identification processes on Sunday and Monday, 30 and 31 May 2004.
The exhibition relates to cases previously exhumed by the ICTY in 2000 at Shiroko and Suhareka/Suva Reka and re-exhumed by OMPF/MPU for identification purposes in 2003.
OMPF believes that the remains may be connected with those who disappeared on their way to Macedonia between March and June 1999.
OMPF invites affected families to attend the exhibition, which will take place at the Rahovec/Orahovac mortuary on Sunday May 30 and Monday 31 May from 10am to 3pm on both days. OMPF advises families wishing to attend that the clothing exhibition will not continue on Tuesday.
Approximately 50 sets of clothing relating to unidentified victims will be displayed with the aim of providing identification leads. A team of forensic experts will assist families who recognise clothing.
ICRC will be available for psychosocial support and ICMP will be present for blood collection to enable further DNA identification.
For Press requiring further information regarding the clothing exhibition, please contact OMPF on 038 504 604 5153. Family members should call OMPF Outreach on 038 504 604 6576.
ATTENTION:
In order to allow a dignified process of the exhibition and identification and to guarantee privacy to the family members, media will only be allowed into the exhibition room from 12:30 pm to 01:00 pm on each day. Your understanding and cooperation is appreciated.
