UNMIK/PR/1132

PRISTINA – Kosovo Police Service officers discovered an improvised explosive device (IED) outside the UNMIK headquarters perimeter, adjacent to apartment buildings occupied by Kosovo residents in the early hours of 6 March. With the assistance of KFOR, the IED was disarmed later in the morning. No damage was caused and there were no injuries.

The SRSG condemns this action, which placed members of the Kosovo public at risk and he regrets that extremists continue to threaten the people of Kosovo with these actions. He congratulates the KPS, UNMIK Police, and KFOR for their professional response throughout this incident.

He assures the public that together with the ongoing police investigation, additional security measures are being implemented to prevent future attacks of this nature.
