SRSG Harri Holkeri’s Decisions on KTA Matters

PRISTINA – After having consulted the Chairman of the Kosovo Trust Agency (KTA) Board Nikolaus Graf Lambsdorff, SRSG Harri Holkeri has come to the conclusion that the KTA Board is currently not discharging its responsibilities under its governing regulation and that urgent decisions must be taken in regard to the KTA matters.

Today the SRSG requested the Chairman of the KTA Board to undertake the following actions:

  1. The KTA Board should ratify and thereby sell the 11 socially owned enterprises (SOE) in the second wave of tenders approved by the KTA,
  2. The KTA Board should launch a third wave of tenders as soon as possible,
  3. The KTA Board should present the SRSG with a draft proposal regarding necessary changes in the Operating Policies on the basis of the KTA Regulation and guidance received from UN Headquarters in New York,
  4. The KTA Board should take urgent steps to proceed with establishing corporate structures for the publicly owned enterprises (POE), in order to implement the results of the audits of the POE’s.

The SRSG informed Prime Minister Bajram Rexhepi about his decisions today. He also briefed the members of Quint.
