PRISTINA -- “The best way for Kosovo Serbs to be consulted on the implementation plan is for them to participate in the working groups”, SRSG Harri Holkeri, underscored during his meeting today with the head of the CCK Nebojsa Covic.
The SRSG expressed his regret that Kosovo Serbs are still unwilling to participate in the process to prepare the Implementation Work Plan. “The non-participation is hurting the interests of the Kosovo Serb community,” he said, adding “if the Kosovo Serbs are not in the working groups, it will not be easy for their views to be incorporated.”
During his meeting with Mr. Covic, which was held in Belgrade, the SRSG also raised the issue of direct dialogue between Belgrade and Pristina. He reiterated his firm belief that talks would produce the desired effect only if they take place in Belgrade and Pristina.
Prior to the meeting with Covic, the SRSG met with representatives of the Contact Group and the EU. He briefed them on the latest developments in Kosovo and appealed for their support to the political process.
While in Belgrade, the SRSG also met with the representatives of permanent and non-permanent members of the UN Security Council.
