PRISTINA – As a result of a joint forces operation with KFOR and the UNMIK Special Response Team, UNMIK Border Police have arrested three local ethnic Albanian males this morning in Pristina without incident. The suspects were arrested in connection with an attack on two UNMIK Customs Officers during the early morning hours of 4 November.
On 3 November, UNMIK Border Police seized 111 weapons and tear gas cartridges from a bus, which was part of a convoy of five buses carrying commercial goods across the border with the former Yugoslav Republic of Macedonia. The following morning, two UNMIK Customs Officers involved in seizing the weapons were accosted and beaten on their way home from work that day. They sustained minor injuries.
UNMIK Police continues to investigate the incident.
