PRISTINA – UNMIK Civil Administration has started registering insurance companies to provide car insurance to drivers in Kosovo.
UNMIK will begin temporary vehicle registration starting 30 November. Drivers will be required to provide proof that their vehicles are insured before they can register their cars.
To qualify for registration, insurance companies must prove to UNMIK that they meet the defined requirements to sell insurance in Kosovo. The aim of the selection process is to ensure that registered companies are reliable and able to fulfill their obligations to policyholders in the case of a claim.
The list of names and the address of companies authorized to sell third party liability insurance will be announced 29 November. However, companies that meet the defined requirements after that date will be registered without delay by UNMIK.
Insurance companies that have not been registered by UNMIK will not be accepted. People who want to register their vehicle should verify that their insurance company has been authorized by the Civil Administration.
