SRSG stresses need for SEECP Foreign Ministers to help keep momentum on status

UNMIK/PR/1618

PRISTINA – Special Representative of the UN Secretary-General in Kosovo (SRSG) Joachim Rücker today attended the Informal Meeting of the Ministers of Foreign Affairs of the South-East European Cooperation Process (SEECP) being held in Rijeka, Croatia on 8 - 9 December.

“Kosovo is an integral part of the SEECP, now and in the future,” the SRSG said.

Mr. Rücker emphasized that there should be no further delay in the process to determine Kosovo’s status. He said, “We all don't want the status process to become the status quo. We should come to a conclusion for the sake of regional stability and to allow the region as a whole to move faster towards Europe.”

The SRSG stressed the need for SEECP member states to help keep the momentum in the status process.

The meeting was chaired by the Croatian Minister of Foreign Affairs Kolinda Grabar-Kitarovic. Foreign Ministers or their representatives from Albania, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Bulgaria, Croatia, Greece, Moldavia, Montenegro, Romania, Serbia and Turkey were present.
