PRISTINA – Principal Deputy Special Representative of the UN Secretary-General in Kosovo (PDSRSG), Steven Schook, today visited Peja/Pec where he met the municipal leadership including the Municipal Assembly President, Mr. Ali Lajçi, and the Deputy President Mr. Smajl Shala.
Addressing the media after the meetings with the municipal leaders the PDSRSG said: “I have heard from all community representatives of Peja/Pec what the key issue or concerns are. We talked a lot about final status and the process this year. We talked a lot about the reality of the Kosovo Consolidated Budget; how it is going to get smaller next year. We talked about what resources we have and how we can apply more efficiently to help all the communities here.”
The PDSRSG condemned the bombing attack which was carried out against a returnee property in Shtuple village. “I ask the citizens in Peja/Pec and surrounding communities to spread the message that it is not the time and it is never the time to take this kind of threat in action. Whoever is behind serves no interest of the people of Kosovo; they can only serve the interest of some evil, despicable thought processes,” - PDSRSG Steve Schook said at the end of his visit to Peja/Pec.
