UNMIK/PR/1750

PRISTINA – The Officer in Charge of UNMIK, Chief of Staff Robert E. Sorenson, conveys the following message today to the people of Kosovo on the occasion of the upcoming holiday of Ramazan Bajram.

“On behalf of Special Representative of the Secretary-General Lamberto Zannier and everyone in UNMIK, I wish to extend best wishes to members of the Islamic Community in Kosovo as you observe the holy month of Ramazan and conclude by celebrating Bajram.

Ramazan Bajram is marked by a spirit of peace, generosity, tolerance, solidarity and charity.

As this holy month of fasting and peacemaking ends, people traditionally reflect on the true meaning of Ramazan Bajram when they come together as a community to renew ties among families and friends and resolve differences peacefully. Let us use this occasion to reinforce constructive dialogue among all people of all communities for a better future in Kosovo.

These most noble virtues can be appreciated by people of all faiths in Kosovo.

I wish everyone a peaceful and joyous Ramazan Bajram celebration.”
