PRISTINA - Today the 17th Economic and Fiscal Council meeting was held in Pristina. The meeting focused on urgent needs to be funded from the 2003 budget surplus.

The meeting was productive and dealt with a number of urgent decisions.

The Council agreed to make funds available for the Airport, in order to secure the financial support it needs to accomplish certification and transfer from KFOR to UNMIK on 1 April 2004.

It was unanimously decided to provide the budget for Trepca and to fund the KPC.

The Council postponed dealing with KEK’s urgent investment needs to the next EFC meeting later this month, when the surplus discussion will be finalised.

At the written request of the Prime Minister, the Chairman agreed to postpone the discussion on the surplus and on the Report on re-appropriations of unspent commitments to the next EFC meeting.

The Economic and Fiscal Council will meet again in the coming weeks to discuss the finalisation of outstanding issues.
