Forestry and Rural Development (DAFRD), has banned the import into Kosovo of all live biungulates (cattle, sheep, goats and pigs) and biungulate products (meat, meat-products, milk, milk-products, semen, ova, embryos and hides) from the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland and the Republic of Ireland (UNMIK Executive Decisions 2001/02 and 2001/03).
The DAFRD is establishing border and boundary disinfecting units at seven open road entry points into Kosovo, three stand-by units at the civilian vehicle entry points and the KFOR by-pass between Kosovo and FYROM to be operational at the re-opening of the Kosovo/FYROM border, and at Pristina international airport;

Given the risk posed by possible confirmation of foot and mouth disease outbreaks in mainland Europe and potential consequences for eastern Europe and the Balkans, UNMIK is considering the closing of the minor entry roads between Kosovo and Albania, Montenegro-FRY and Serbia-FRY, to facilitate the implementation of the adopted control measures.
Within the next 24 hours, the outbreak situation in the UK will be clearer as the incubation time limit of 14 days from the first reported outbreak will be reached. Until now, all outbreaks have been linked to the first outbreak. If this were to remain unchanged, there is a good possibility that the crisis will then dwindle, and confirmation given that the foot and mouth diseases-danger linked to these outbreaks no longer exists within a further 30 days.
