PRISTINA – The SRSG, Søren Jessen-Petersen today signed an agreement for a contribution of € 1,346,000 from the Government of Italy to support a comprehensive group of projects aimed at the sustainable growth and development of the Mitrovica region.
The project is designed to build the capacity of all local communities towards sustainable local development. It will last 12 months and focus on the areas of public utilities and infrastructure, hospital and health facilities. The project also includes sub-projects aimed at the youth with a view to promoting inter-cultural and inter-community cooperation, and a Development Agenda and Aid Coordination (DAAC) programme for all six municipalities of the region to enhance economic development.
The contribution falls within the initiatives funded by the Government of Italy for the purpose of promoting and enhancing the stability, reconstruction and development of the Balkans.
UNOPS will be the executing agency for the implementation of the project.
