PRISTINA--One unit of Kosovo's major power plant, which has been out of operation and under repair for two weeks, was restarted today and is providing Kosovo with 220 megawatts for a total of 430 megawatts of much-needed electricity.
Unit One of Kosovo B, which has now been repaired, had suffered from a broken ash hopper and icing of critical pipes. The staff of the Kosovo power company had worked 24-hour days to repair it.
The power plant's second unit was badly damaged by a fire on 11 January, will take up to one month to bring back on line.
As of this afternoon, the regime of electricity distribution was to be three hours on and three hours off around Kosovo.
