KTA Board Approves Launch of 6th Round of Privatisation

UNMIK/PR/1365

PRISTINA – The KTA Board met yesterday and discussed amongst other issues the next steps in the privatisation process. The KTA Board instructed the KTA management to launch the 6th wave of privatisation immediately, after discussing in-depth the enterprises recommended for privatization by KTA during their meeting yesterday. 20 Socially Owned Enterprises (SOE’s) or 36 NewCo’s (“New Companies”) will be included in the 6th wave.

The Chairman of the Board, DSRSG Joachim Ruecker said after the seven-hour meeting: “It was a long, but very productive meeting. I am especially pleased with the fact that all Board decisions were taken unanimously.” The Vice-Chairman of the Board, Minister for Trade and Industry Bujar Dugolli said: ‘It was a constructive meeting, in which a number of important topics were discussed. It is good that we reached consensus on the most sensitive points of the agenda.”

The Board has also discussed the Ferronikeli tender. It decided not to declare as yet the provisional winning bidder and instructed the KTA management to seek further documentation from the bidders. The Board agreed to discuss this matter further in its next meeting, which is expected to take place in the second half of June.

The Minister for Energy and Mining, Ethem Ceku was invited to participate in the Board’s discussions on the rehabilitation plans for Trepca. After his comments and the input of the PISG-delegated KTA Board members, the Board concluded that the basic concerns and objectives on how to revitalize and rehabilitate Trepca were shared by the KTA and PISG. The KTA Board supported the agreement reached recently between Trepca Trade Union and its management on the one side and Kosovo government and KTA on the other side.
