KTA Board Meets after 14 Months

UNMIK/PR/1361

PRISTINA - Yesterday, after 14 months, the KTA Board of Directors has met again in a formal meeting. All Board members were present. The meeting lasted for seven hours (it will be continued for some unfinished agenda points on Wednesday) and was successful: almost all of the proposed resolutions have been approved, many of which by consensus, that is by unanimous decisions of the Board members.

The decisions at the Board meeting included the approval of the POE incorporation projects for PTK and Airport. It was agreed that three PISG nominated members for the relevant POE boards will be appointed at the next Board meeting.

The Board also asked the Chairman and KTA management to complete all 4th wave contracts. The 4th wave and the recently completed 3rd wave included major industrial companies such as Balkan Rubber Factory, Lamkos and Silosi Flour Mill, which have attracted significant regional and international investors securing more than 1200 jobs and further substantial investments in these companies.

As to future privatization, the Board has instructed KTA management to launch the 5th wave immediately, which includes 15 SOEs or 29 Newcos. KTA management will launch it today.

The next Board meeting and the launch of the 6th wave are planned to take place at the end of May.

In addition, the KTA management was tasked to present, at the next Board meeting, a concrete plan which would reflect the Chairman’s commitment to privatize 90% of the value of the SOE within the next 12 months.

The Chairman Joachim Ruecker and the designated Vice Chairman Bujar Dugolli were in agreement that the success of this first meeting of the new KTA Board proves the existence of good cooperation between the local and international Board members, which they hope will continue in the future.
