PRISTINA - The Office on Missing Persons and Forensics (OMPF) announces today that an accreditation examination will take place on a range of medical specialisms for Kosovan experts in Pristina on 14th October 2004.
The accreditation is for non-forensic medical experts providing their expertise to forensic doctors and/or Courts, as required by the Kosovo judicial system in cases of medical negligence and other topics.
Judicial authorities, through the Department of Justice, are establishing a directory of accredited medical experts, which will include a full range of medical specialisms.
The directory will assist the Courts with the provision of medical opinion whenever the need for expert medical witnesses arises. Accredited medical experts listed in the directory will receive fees for their services.
The first examination will cover gynaecology/obstetrics, orthopaedics and general surgery. A series of examinations for other specialisms will be held in due course.
Candidates for the non-forensic medical examination will undergo a written examination based on cases according to their specialty.
