PRISTINA – Principal Deputy Special Representative of the UN Secretary-General in Kosovo (PDSRSG) Steven Schook’s greeting on the occasion of Orthodox Christmas:
On behalf of SRSG Joachim Rücker and all of us in UNMIK, I wish a joyous holiday to everyone in Kosovo celebrating Orthodox Christmas. I hope that the spirit of sharing that Christmas brings will promote harmony and mutual respect among all Kosovo citizens of all faiths.
As the Christmas season fills our hearts with gratitude for the many blessings that surround us every day of the year, it also reminds us of our obligation to share these blessings with others. This is the essence of the peaceful co-existence that Kosovo seeks today.
At this historic turn when Kosovo looks forward to challenging times, the spirit of Christmas brings special comfort and confidence. Above all, on this day we must resolve to ensure that the people of Kosovo never again have to endure the tragedies and sufferings of the recent past. Now is the time to change your fate, to define your new destiny, and to secure peace and prosperity among all in Kosovo.
