UNMIK/PR/1174

PRISTINA – Police have arrested three persons today for suspected involvement in corruption and concluding of harmful contracts on behalf of the Post and Telecommunications Enterprise of Kosovo (PTK).

Those arrested are Mr Uno Nilsson former UNMIK employee and former Senior Advisor to PTK, Ms Leme Xhema, former Director General of the PTK and Mr Bedri Rama former Director of Telecom with PTK.

The arrests have been made following investigations by the Financial Investigation Unit (FIU) into the procurement and execution of contracts signed for PTK.

SRSG Harri Holkeri stated again that "zero tolerance for corruption” is one of UNMIK’s most important principles. “We cannot talk here about ongoing investigations,” he said, “but UNMIK is determined to bring to justice anyone involved in corruption."
