PRISTINA – In a meeting today with local residents in Skenderaj/Srbica, Special Representative of the UN Secretary-General in Kosovo (SRSG) Joachim Rücker discussed the status process and elections preparations, and addressed issues related to internally displaced persons. The SRSG was accompanied by D/COMKFOR Maj.-Gen. Gerhard Stelz.

“Today is the 12th of September and I am confident that by tonight the Central Election Commission will have all the political entities’ lists for the 17 November elections,” the SRSG said.

After meeting with Municipal Assembly President Ramadan Gashi and other local leaders, the SRSG said: “I am convinced that the municipality of Skenderaj/Srbica will be prepared to conduct the elections.”

The SRSG stressed that elections should not interfere with the status process, adding: “We all think that it is possible to reconcile the two processes.”

The SRSG also visited the Memorial Complex “Adem Jashari”, in Prekaz/e.

Earlier in the day, the SRSG attended the inauguration of the NewCo Ferronikeli smelter complex in Gllogoc/Glogovac.
