PRISTINA - "I am deeply and personally shocked upon hearing the news of the attack on a home in north Mitrovica in which two children were injured when an explosive device was thrown at their home in the northern Mitrovica neighborhood of Bosniak Mahala. This is a cowardly act unbefitting of any civilized society," said SRSG Farid Zarif, noting that this attack followed two explosions in northern Mitrovica on Sunday, and several other serious incidents during the past weeks.
"I know that the people of Kosovo are appalled by such reprehensible acts of violence and repudiate them completely. I call on all to clearly condemn these acts. Our hearts go out to the children and all the families affected," he added.
The SRSG welcomed the investigation which has been opened by Kosovo police and EULEX, and urged anyone with information which may be helpful in solving these cases to cooperate with investigators. "This is the responsibility and duty of all. Such violence must cease immediately," the SRSG concluded.
