PRISTINA – SRSG Harri Holkeri today condemned the drive by shooting incident in Caglavica last evening that resulted in serious injuries to a Kosovo Serb teenager, Jovica Ivic.
Cautioning against presumptions of ethnic or other motives for the attempted murder, the SRSG said that “such acts do not serve the interests of any community and must be condemned. They only harm the image of Kosovo, which should be a matter of concern to all the people in Kosovo.”
Mr. Holkeri stressed the need for enhanced cooperation between the police and all communities to help bring perpetrators of such crimes to justice.
“Whilst I understand the frustration and anger of the people, I disapprove of the violence following this despicable shooting, when some people blocked the road, set fire to a vehicle and prevented the police and KFOR from entering the area.”
