PRISTINA – SRSG Harri Holkeri today met representatives of the Council of Family Associations and assured them that he will inform the UN Security Council about their concerns. The issue should also be dealt within the Pristina-Belgrade dialogue.
The representatives of the missing requested him to urge Belgrade authorities regarding the return of mortal remains from Serbia proper.
Mr. Holkeri said: “UNMIK is ready to raise this issue at the highest levels. The Security Council already knows of the issue through the dialogue process and the working group on missing persons.”
The SRSG emphasized the importance of continuing to talk to the Serbian authorities on this issue.
The Council representatives also raised the issue of alleged hidden detention centres. In accordance with the protocols signed between UNMIK and the Belgrade authorities, Mr. Holkeri said them that these allegations would be investigated if sufficient evidence is provided accordingly.
