SRSG Michael Steiner Visits Mitrovica

UNMIK/PR/915

PRISTINA – SRSG Michael Steiner today visited Mitrovica and met leaders of the Mitrovica Municipal Assembly, including its President Faruk Spahija and deputy president Mursan Ibrahimi, and discussed with them the current situation in the region.

Mr. Steiner spontaneously took all the leaders to see the Kosovo Trust Agency (KTA) office in the northern part of the town, which is currently under renovation.

As the SRSG has said the KTA is one of the most important institutions for Kosovo’s economic future. It will be managing the privatisation programme of the socially owned enterprise (SOEs) and is responsible for overseeing the management and restructuring of publicly owned enterprises (POEs). Located in the north, people from all over Kosovo will be able to access the KTA easily, sending a powerful signal to all investors.

After visiting the KTA office and having bid farewell to the municipal leaders, Mr. Steiner stopped by at a café and had coffee with a group of people living in the northern part of the town. For over an hour, they discussed issues affecting their day-to-day life.
