PRISTINA – Special Representative of the UN Secretary General in Kosovo (SRSG) Søren Jessen-Petersen, accompanied by COMKFOR Lt. Gen. Giuseppe Valotto and KPC Coordinator Maj. Gen. Chris Steirn, today visited the Kosovo Protection Corps (KPC) establishments across Kosovo.
KPC Commander Lt. Gen. Sylejman Selimi received the SRSG at the Civil Protection Brigade Headquarters in Pristina, where they witnessed a Training Demonstration. This was followed by a Map Exercise at the KPC Training and Doctrine Command Centre. They also visited the KPC’s Bob-Doganaj/Doganovic Road Project in Kaçanik/ Kačanik municipality and Graxhanik Road Project in Kamenicë/Kamenica municipality.
The SRSG congratulated Lt. Gen. Selimi for making a strong start as Commander of the KPC with able support from his new Deputy Maj. Gen. Rrahman Rama. “I am pleased to see the KPC working for the benefit of all the people of Kosovo,” the SRSG said.
The SRSG noted the progress made by the KPC since his previous visits: “I have made many visits to the KPC; this is the first with Gen. Selimi,” he said, “I am more and more impressed with the KPC. I see that the KPC works increasingly with the people and for the people, that it is more and more composed of, and integrated with, all the people of Kosovo.”
The SRSG thanked KFOR “for their never failing support to the KPC”.
