Today two more suspects in crimes which led the arrests of four men yesterday turned themselves in to UNMIK Police.
The two Kosovo Albanian males joined four other Kosovo Albanian suspects now in custody. All have been arrested on suspicion of illegal detentions and grave bodily injury to Kosovo Albanian victims in June 1999 after the war. Most of the victims remain missing.
No names or affiliations of the suspects will be released until the international investigating judge confirms the charges.
With the arrest of all six men, UNMIK police say this aspect of the case has been completed and no further suspects are being sought in this matter.
UNMIK and UNMIK Police strongly reject the allegations and misinformation made yesterday in a statement issued by the KPC/TMK on the arrests conducted yesterday.
UNMIK Police acted according to the highest professional standards and in no way violated the rights or persons of those arrested or those who were detained briefly during yesterday’s operation.
UNMIK Police have successfully apprehended six suspects in a case involving extremely serious crimes.
They have completed a significant step forward in ensuring the rule of law is upheld in Kosovo.
The arrests were made following a long and comprehensive investigation, pursuant to a request from an international public prosecutor.
