Breaking borders: magazine edition promotes the role of Kosovo women in science, tech, engineering and maths

Did you know only 14 per cent of all people working in cloud computing are Women? Or how about that only 1 in 5 engineers is a woman? This data, from the 2021 World Economic Forum’s Global Gender Gap Report, was shared by SRSG Caroline Ziadeh during the launch of the 7th edition of magazine ZA – the Jahjaga Foundation’s magazine dedicated to putting a spotlight on the strength and resilience of women. This edition was financed by UNMIK.

Giving her opening remarks, SRSG Ziadeh said it was particularly difficult for women to break barriers in Science, Technology, Engineering and Maths (STEM) fields.

“This edition of the magazine, and the women and men it features, will inspire new generations of women and girls to join STEM fields and break borders.”

The seventh edition of Za features some amazing Kosovo women, such as neuroscientist Dea Luma, app developer Zana Tabaku and computer science engineer and Open Data Kosova executive director Blerta Thaqi.
