SRSG Peter Due Concludes First Official Visit to Belgrade, Emphasizes Dialogue and Engagement

The Special Representative of the Secretary-General (SRSG) and Head of UNMIK, Peter Due, undertook his first official visit to Belgrade since assuming his duties, during which he held a series of meetings with Serbian officials, representatives of the diplomatic community and the United Nations family.

At the outset of his visit from February 3-6, SRSG Due met with Serbia’s Minister of Foreign Affairs, Marko Đurić, where discussions focused on recent developments in the region and the importance of dialogue as a means to address outstanding issues.

In subsequent meetings, the SRSG held discussions with the Speaker of the National Assembly, Ana Brnabić, the Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Internal Affairs, Ivica Dačić, and the Director of OKiM, Petar Petković.

SRSG Due also met with members of the diplomatic corps and the United Nations team in Belgrade. These meetings provided an opportunity to exchange views, align efforts, and advance shared goals in support of peace, stability, and trust-building in the region.

Throughout his engagements, the SRSG reaffirmed UNMIK’s commitment to constructive engagement with all stakeholders and to supporting dialogue to contribute to stability and improved relations for the benefit of all communities.
