Kosovo Missing Persons families’ associations received Cyprus Missing Persons Association
 
Pristina, 11 November 2013 - Representatives of the Turkish Cypriot and Greek Cypriot organizations of the Cyprus Missing Persons Association visited the Kosovo Missing Persons families’ associations. The working visit was organized by UNMIK and it was a follow up to a visit of the associations of K-Albanian and K-Serbian families of missing persons to Cyprus in November 2012. The working visit ran from 11 to 14 November 2013.
 
In honor of the Kosovo visit of the Cypriot Missing Persons Families' Representatives, UNMIK Deputy Special Representative of the Secretary-General Robert E. Sorenson hosted a reception where representatives of the K-Albanian and K-Serbian families of missing persons, Government of Kosovo and Government of Serbia, Civil Society and the diplomatic core were invited.
 
During the visit, the Cypriot Delegation met with local and international authorities dealing with the missing persons issue in Pristina and Belgrade. The Cypriot Delegation was welcomed in Pristina by Members of the Working Group on Missing Persons, the Pristina Delegation, the Kosovo Government Commission on Missing Persons, the Assembly of Kosovo/Committee Commission on Human Rights, Gender Equality, Missing Persons and Petitions, ICRC and the EULEX/Department of Forensic Medicine.
 
The Cypriot Delegation also met with the K-Albanian Families’ Association of Missing Persons in Mitrovica and were welcomed by Mitrovica Mayor Avni Kastrati. Moreover, they met with two K-Albanian families’ of missing persons from Mitrovica. Prior to the visit in Mitrovica, the Cypriot Delegation visited sites considered to mass graves, namely in Zhilivode/Zilivoda and Dubovc/Dubovac (both in the Vushtrri/Vucitrn Municipality).
 
The Cypriot Delegation continued their visit to Belgrade where they had the opportunity to meet with the Members of the Working Group on Missing Persons, the Belgrade Delegation of the Serbian Government Commission on Missing Persons and paid a visit to one K-Serbian family of missing persons from Istog/k Municipality, currently living in Belgrade, Serbia.
