During an official visit to Tirana, the Special Representative of the Secretary-General and Head of UNMIK Zahir Tanin met with the Minister for Europe and Foreign Affairs, Ditmir Bushati.

SRSG Tanin and Foreign Minister Bushati exchanged views on the situation in Kosovo, Pristina-Belgrade relations, and the role of the United Nations in Kosovo.  The SRSG took the opportunity to commend Albania’s recent commitment to contribute to the Secretary-General’s Trust Fund in Support of Victims of Sexual Exploitation and Abuse.

During his visit to Tirana, SRSG Tanin also met with the Director General for Political and Strategic Affairs, Ferit Hoxha, and Brian J. Williams, the United Nations Resident Coordinator and UNDP Resident Representative in Albania.

The visit to Tirana, part of SRSG Tanin’s engagement with key stakeholders related to the mandate of the Mission, came in advance of his upcoming presentation to the Security Council on Kosovo in New York.
