SRSG TANIN HOLDS REGULAR CONSULTATIONS IN PARIS AHEAD OF SECURITY COUNCIL SESSION ON KOSOVO

The Special Representative of the Secretary-General in Kosovo, Mr. Zahir Tanin, met with senior officials from the French Ministry for Europe and Foreign Affairs in Paris as part of his regular consultations ahead of the forthcoming UN Security Council session on Kosovo.

SRSG Tanin and his interlocutors exchanged views about the situation in Kosovo in the aftermath of the recent parliamentary elections and the prospects for an early resumption of the Belgrade-Pristina dialogue after the formation of government in Kosovo.

SRSG Tanin briefed about the work of UNMIK – particularly under the trust-building framework central to its activities –  supporting women, youth and minority communities in cooperation with international organisations and local partners. The French officials once again underlined the important contribution of the United Nations to peace and security in Kosovo and the Western Balkans.
