The Special Representative of the Secretary-General (SRSG) and Head of UNMIK Caroline Ziadeh met with key interlocutors during her visit to Belgrade on April 11 and 12.  She discussed a range of current issues, as well as the UN Secretary-General’s forthcoming Report ahead of the next scheduled Security Council session on UNMIK later this month.  SRSG Ziadeh stressed the importance of continuing the good faith efforts to find compromise solutions within the framework of the EU-facilitated dialogue and the Agreement on the Path to Normalisation of Relations.  These included the efforts being undertaken to resolve currency issues in Serbian-majority areas of Kosovo, prospects for new local elections in the northern Kosovo municipalities, and necessary steps toward the establishment of the Association/Community of Serbian Majority Municipalities.  Discussions also covered a range of issues for strengthening regional peace and stability.

SRSG Ziadeh met with Serbian Acting Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs Ivica Dačić, and the Director of the Office for Kosovo Petar Petković.

SRSG Ziadeh also met with representatives from the Belgrade-based diplomatic corps. She briefed on UNMIK’s ongoing trust-building work in Kosovo as well as future plans in this area.
