The Special Representative of the Secretary-General (SRSG) and Head of UNMIK, Ms. Caroline Ziadeh, met today with the Kosovo Ombudsperson, Mr. Naim Qelaj, to discuss the current human rights situation in Kosovo, including in the North.

SRSG Ziadeh emphasized the vital role of the Office of the Ombudsperson’s in promoting and protecting the rights of all individuals in Kosovo, highlighting that it is also at the heart of UNMIK’s trust-building efforts. Ms. Ziadeh expressed her support in particular the Ombudsperson's outreach efforts to communities and civil society organizations in northern Kosovo. She also underscored the importance of anchoring Rule of Law in human rights principles.
