Today, the Special Representative of the Secretary-General and Head of UNMIK, Caroline Ziadeh, visited the Mitrovica region as part of continued outreach visits across Kosovo.

In North Mitrovica, SRSG Ziadeh met with Serbian List representatives and discussed developments that are impacting the daily lives of the population. She also met with civil society members and heard firsthand accounts of the challenges and needs facing the Kosovo-Serb community.  SRSG Ziadeh emphasized the importance of trust-building between communities and urged continued engagement within the framework of the EU-facilitated dialogue.

SRSG Ziadeh also visited the shelter for survivors of domestic and gender-based violence (GBV) in South Mitrovica, where she spoke with shelter staff who expressed resilience and compassion in their work with survivors. Emphasizing UNMIK's commitment to advancing the Women, Peace, and Security agenda, SRSG Ziadeh commended the shelter's pivotal work to create a safe and inclusive environment.
