UNMIK welcomes the decision by the Central Election Commission to accredit Serbian-language media outlets and others who were previously denied accreditation to cover the upcoming municipal elections.

The decision assists the flow of information and ensures the constitutionally protected rights of communities to access information in their own language. Media freedom is a fundamental human right and a cornerstone of democratic societies. Media must be free to report on electoral processes to ensure transparency, public trust, and an informed electorate.

UNMIK applauds all efforts toward an inclusive and pluralistic elections coverage by the media, in full compliance with democratic standards for elections.
