UNMIK and Kosovo Judicial Council are committed to further co-operation in improving the rule of law

On 30 May 2022, Caroline Ziadeh, Special Representative of the Secretary-General visited the Kosovo Judicial Council (KJC) to reaffirm continued partnership and cooperation with the Council and other partners in support of rule of law and access to justice in Kosovo. Chair of the Kosovo Judicial Council, Mr. Albert Zogaj, and the Executive Director of the Kosovo Judicial Council Secretariat, Mr. Shkelzen Maliqi, welcomed UNMIK team.

SRSG Ziadeh highlighted the mission’s good cooperation with the Kosovo judicial institutions while commending the role of the KJC as a key institution in preserving and enhancing the independence of the judicial system in Kosovo, including the integration of the judiciary, and expresses her full support for its activity. SRSG Ziadeh expressed readiness to continue this support in areas identified by the KJC.

The Chair of the Kosovo Judicial Council, Mr. Zogaj expressed his appreciation for the support the mission has provided over the years all aimed at improving the justice delivery and access to justice including translation, archiving, and case management support.
