The Special Representative of the Secretary-General and Head of UNMIK, Zahir Tanin, today met with the Committee on Foreign Affairs of the Assembly of Kosovo, discussing and exchanging views on a wide range of issues important to Kosovo. 

The meeting provided a unique opportunity to clarify UNMIK’s current activities, in line with its mandate from the United Nations Security Council, and also proved useful to dispel common misperceptions about its ongoing work. 

After the meeting, the SRSG said: “I am gratified by this timely meeting which helped strengthen our mutual understanding and our work toward shared objectives. Though UNMIK is smaller now than it once was, I remain committed that the UN’s resources continue to be applied where they achieve the greatest positive impact on the lives of people. We work closely with the EU, KFOR, OSCE and other international presences to support the authorities in meeting their institutional goals.”
