SRSG ZAHIR TANIN MEETS ALEKSANDAR VUČIĆ, PRESIDENT OF SERBIA

The Special Representative of the Secretary-General and Head of UNMIK, Zahir Tanin, met in Belgrade today with President Aleksandar Vučić of Serbia.

In their meeting, the President and the SRSG acknowledged the complexity of the current political circumstances and underlined the need for all to support peace and stability.

Discussing the present situation, SRSG Tanin noted that UN Security Council Resolution 1244 remains the legal basis for international presences in Kosovo and that both KFOR and UNMIK work strictly within this legal framework.

President Vučić and SRSG Tanin underlined the vital importance of the need for continuing dialogue between Belgrade and Pristina regardless of serious existing challenges.
