SRSG Ziadeh Holds Regular Consultations in Belgrade Ahead of the UN Security Council Session, Urges to Prioritize Dialogue
Belgrade, 18 October 2024 - The Special Representative of the Secretary-General (SRSG) and Head of UNMIK Caroline Ziadeh concluded a two-day visit to Belgrade, where she held a series of high-level meetings as part of her regular consultations ahead of the UN Security Council session scheduled for 30 October.
During her visit, SRSG Ziadeh met with Prime Minister Miloš Vučević, President of the National Assembly Ana Brnabić, Foreign Minister Marko Đurić, and the Director of the Office for Kosovo Petar Petković.
In her discussions, SRSG Ziadeh highlighted the importance of resolving outstanding issues through the EU-facilitated Dialogue. “I urge leaders on both sides to prioritize dialogue, to remain committed to constructive, good faith engagement, and to find compromises for the benefit of all.”
SRSG Ziadeh also met with the diplomatic corps and civil society representatives based in Belgrade, briefing them on UNMIK’s ongoing trust-building initiatives in Kosovo.
In conclusion, the SRSG reaffirmed UNMIK’s commitment to continued efforts, along with international stakeholders, to promote the conditions for prosperity, stability and peace in the region.
